IN: NEW PROJECTS
Another exciting project which has built on the success of the FFIT programme, is a collaboration with the Scottish Prison Service to explore the feasibility of adapting a men’s weight-management, physical activity and healthy living programme for delivery in secure institutional settings. This has the aim of supporting at-risk groups in supporting positive, sustainable behavioural change.
Participants in the first delivery of the adapted programme at Perth prison reported benefits including weight loss, improved diet, greater activity and higher energy levels.
The adapted programme is now being extended to other Scottish prisons. The research team is led by Kate Hunt and Cindy Gray, from the University of Glasgow.
